In Psalm 78 we read about all that the LORD has done for Israel and yet they keep on rejecting Him in murmuring and complaining.
We are not beter than the Israelites. We are complaining and condemning other people and forgetting where God has bring us from.
Psalm 78:34-42 When He slew them, then they sought Him: and they returned and enquired early after God. And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Nevertheless they did flatter Him with their mouth, and they lied unto Him with their tongues. For their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant. But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned He his anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath. For He remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They remembered not His hand, nor the day when He delivered them from the enemy.
The Lord is urging all of us to return to Him whole heartedly. To repent of our sin and turn away from all the idols in our lives. To life according to His will, and worship Him with our whole heart and soul. To depend on Him alone, and not on people, money or possessions. He is the only One who can save, protect and sustain us. He is our Redeemer, Saviour and strong fortress. The great message of the Psalm 78 is the inconstancy of the people, which so often manifested itself. Whose spirit was not steadfast with God, Psa_78:8. Whatever favour that is shown to us is wholly attributable to God’s unchanging mercy.
2 Chronicles 7:12-16 And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to Myself for a house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now Mine eyes shall be open, and Mine ears attend unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there for ever: and Mine eyes and Mine heart shall be there perpetually.
The LORD of Host promises that when we repent and turn to Him, He will deliver and save us. We need to seek the LORD while He is still to be found. The time is running out as we are living in the last hours. When you hear the voice of the LORD in this day, don’t harden your heart, but answer in obedience.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come humbly before Your throne of mercy. We confess that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Father we ask that you will forgives us all our transgressions and trespasses. We confess that Jesus had died on the cross for our sin and rose from the dead. Please change us into a new creation by re-birth by Your Spirit. Holy Spirit come full us with Your presence and give us a white hot passioned heart to love Jesus more than ever before. We thank you for Your mercy and we receive Your forgiveness. We chose to trust You alone. Thank you for saving us from sin and fear. In Jesus Name Amen
