Being a wife and mom while working a full-time job can take its toll on you, with that in mind I have been pushing symptoms aside thinking just that. Feeling tired all the time and not really in the mood to do anything fun.
Sitting, daydreaming and longing back to the days when you had so much energy and a lust for life. Making jokes on the top of the 7 flight stairs you just climbed with other colleagues of how unfit we have become and some blaming it on growing old… at least we are all growing old together, haha.
But a visit to my hairdresser changed everything. She pointed out that my hair is thinning out and that I have dark circles under my eyes. This, I did not even notice. She suggested that I have my iron levels checked. It actually made sense, that is why I am feeling so tired all the time and why getting up the stairs got harder with each day passing.
I made an appointment for that coming week, and did not expect what was coming my way, at all!
Blood pressure measured and blood tests were done to measure my iron levels, HB levels and Thyroid. Supplements given after a long chat with the Dr. My morning coffee did not even get the chance to go cold when the Dr. phoned to inform me that I am in trouble.
My iron levels are critically low together with my HB and Thyroid levels, a drip is needed to get me back to normal levels again. Waiting for medical authorization is excruciating while dragging myself around to get daily tasks done.
My husband still made a joke about getting my policies in place not knowing that it could be fatal for me.
Now, waiting for the drip, I do realize that God sometimes uses an event to push people into the right direction, to change their mind set, to think of things in a different way, to treat others with more respect and love.
If you are in your winter season, I can assure you it won’t last forever, things will change. Just make sure that you learn what you need to out of the lessons given to you and when test time comes push through no matter how hard.
